About Westlake Village, California

Westlake Village is another of those cities whose name alone might be translated “you want to live here!” Real estate in Westlake Village is as enviable as anywhere else in the San Fernando Valley! If you want to own a home in an area where your family and friends say “wow” then Westlake Village CA is the place to be.

Westlake Village is an exciting place to live. What makes it different from other cities is that it is a planned community specifically designed to create a family-friendly environment with a community just over 8000 people all living around an artificial but picturesque lake. Incorporated in 1981 it is a fairly new city. Ventura Boulevard allows people to commute here from elsewhere in the San Fernando Valley, making this an excellent bedroom community. But, just because it could be considered a bedroom community, doesn’t mean that you can’t work here. Dole Foods and J.D. Power and Associates both have headquarters in this beautiful town.

Because of its design and location, there is a lot of open space around Westlake Village, including the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, for people who enjoy outdoor activities. Some of these potential activities include horseback riding, cycling, jogging, and hiking.

Westlake Village is decidedly upscale with several golf courses and country clubs serving the populace, which earns a median income of just over $100,000. The median price of homes is about $1 million dollars which means that there are an equal number of homes below that price as above it… people with a desire to own property in Westlake Village will probably find a place that matches what they are looking for.

This is definitely a place for families: The average household size is just over 2.5 people. A quarter of the population is under the age of 24 and only 17% are over the age of 65, which means that most of the populace is within the child-rearing stage of life. If you have a family and are moving here, chances are that your neighbors will have kids for your kids to play with!

While Westlake Village has all of the typical things any city of this size will have (restaurants, hotels, shopping, etc.) it is notable for its luxury Four Seasons Hotel and Health Resort, so those who want to get into shape, stay in shape, and feel great may find this to be a great neighbor to have!

Is this the right place for you? It’s hard to say until you check it out. But one thing is for sure: when you do check it out, it will likely rate high on your list of places that you want to live in your lifetime.
