About Studio City, CA
When I say “Los Angeles” you think of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood: of rubbing shoulders with the hottest film stars. But that doesn’t just happen in Hollywood. Studio City is one of the many cities in the San Fernando Valley lending its real estate (and name) to the film companies that have created the entertainment industry in this country.
Studio City is a district of the San Fernando Valley area, about four miles square. Highway 101 runs along the north and east sides of the city, and Mulholland Drive and the Santa Monica Mountains act as boundaries that run along the south of the city.
Studio City CA is made up of over 25000 people living in over 13000 homes. Like other homes in the area, median home prices are about $887,000 (as of May 2007) which means you’ll likely find a home you want at a price you want. Notable residents include Jason Alexander (who played George Costanza on TV’s Seinfeld), as well as William Shatner, Alex Trebek, and Britney Spears. Imagine the barbecues you could have with those people as your guests!
If you work in the entertainment industry or hope to in the future, what better place to own a home than a city called Studio City! The city got its name when Mack Sennett Studios moved their studios to the area in the 1920s. You may not have heard of Mack Sennett Studios, but you’ll likely have heard of the name it goes by now: CBS studios!
For those who want to own property outside of LA but expect to do a lot of traveling in the area, Studio City is a convenient commuter town because of Highway 101 as well as some of the other roads that connect it to the outside, including downtown Los Angeles, Glendale, West Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Hollywood.
Homes in Studio City have really been trending toward condominium living, lately. So you may find homes that you like but if you’re in the market for a condo, then Studio City is the place to go.
Looking for a gauge of the city’s entertainment and night life? Studio City has enjoyed stellar growth in restaurants lately, including delis, sushi bars, and a number of excellent higher-end restaurants.
Carpenter Avenue Elementary School, Walter Reed Middle School, and North Hollywood High School provide education for children of residents. And, Bridges Academy is also located in Studio City offer middle and high school education for gifted students with learning disabilities. Not to mention that the town is home to such recognized private schools as Harvard-Westlake and the Buckley School.
If you are looking for a home in the Los Angeles area, we’d recommend Studio City for those with an interest in working within the entertainment industry, as well as those who prefer condo living and eating out!
