Northridge, CA: Schools and Services

Besides its spread of highly livable neighborhoods, the San Fernando Valley city of Northridge CA could be considered an educational center. Because of the depth of schooling opportunities in the area a person could conceivably live and go to school in Northridge from preschool right on through university.

Northridge is served by over a dozen schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. These start with the early years at Calahan, Napa, Topeka Drive, Andasol, Dearborn, Lorne, Beckford, Castlebay Lane, and Darby Elementary schools. They focus on the middle years at places such as Nobel, Holms, and Northridge Middle Schools and carry students through the teenage years at Northridge Academy Senior High and Kirk Douglas High School. Amongst all these are various “magnet” schools which provide specializations for students focused on math and science, humanities, fundamentals, or studies for the gifted. Northridge is also known for having the only major four-year university in the San Fernando Valley. Imagine: New parents who move here just might be able to walk their kids to school on the first day of school… for from kindergarten to their college years!

Indeed many families have been attracted to this city over the years. With its two Los Angeles Police Departments and its own LA fire station as well as the one of San Fernando’s Level II trauma centers at the Northridge Medical Center, safety and security are being aptly provided. These service providers became hometown heroes when the 1994 Los Angeles California earthquake struck the area. Although the epicenter was in nearby Reseda, the safety servicemen and women of Northridge were heavily involved in the response.

Despite a population that has reached over 84,000, the large stretch of land on which this city is placed ensures plenty of elbow room for local residents. As a matter of fact, the layout of the city allows for neighborhoods to carve out their own unique appeal. Places such as Porter Ranch and Sherwood Forest give an idea of the kind of diversity that we are talking about.

This Californian city is a popular destination for fashion lovers, as the Northridge Fashion Center hosts shopping enthusiasts galore. If fashion is your passion, this is the place to go!

Combined with the proximity to other Los Angeles communities and attractions the city of Northridge CA puts residents within easy reach of a multitude of amenities as well as entertainment and recreational options while allowing them the opportunity to enjoy distinct neighborhood living.

Located within the heart of the action and yet not overwhelmed by it, Northridge is a great place to consider buying a home in the San Fernando Valley. The schools and services of this substantial community ensure that families of all shapes and sizes may comfortably call it home. And if you love clothes, this is the place for you!
