| City Information: Hidden Hills, CA

Sometimes the name of the city tells the whole story. Hopefully this isn’t the case for Squabbletown or Wimp, California. Maybe the names of places such as Happy Camp and Nice are fitting, but one thing is quite plainly certain: If you go to Hidden Hills that is exactly what you’ll find.
Nestled in the western foothills on the opposite side of the San Fernando Valley from Burbank is this quaint little city with a decidedly rural feel. With Calabasas in the west and Woodland Hills in the east, Hidden Hills is almost out of place next to the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles. To the south is the Ventura Freeway, the famous Mulholland Boulevard and not far away, the Pacific Ocean.
For those who have wanted to live near the big city or the studios and have wanted to maintain a sense of the quiet life, the small town of Hidden Hills has been a very inviting community. Hidden Hills was incorporated as a city in 1961, and every fall the city’s Fiesta celebration marks this significant event. The events of note tend to include such things as a parade, a barbeque, horse shows, dances, and local entertainment.
Most small communities do not have much to draw from for local entertainment, but notables from musician Marvin Gaye to astronaut Buzz Aldrin, comedians from Sinbad to Howie Mandel, and miscellaneous celebrities from Lisa Marie Presley to Tae-bo creator Billy Blanks have at one time or another been proud to call this home. It is definitely a unique community.
In 2000 the median asking price for homes or condos was just over $1,000,000 and the median rent was just over $1,200. The average age of Hidden Hills residents was about 20 years and about half of the less than 600 registered households had children living under their roof. Four-fifths of those households contained married couples. This is a great place to raise a family. The Hidden Hills Elementary School has been given rave reviews in recent evaluations, and the community is determined to remain a safe place for those who choose to live there.
The real estate market here will not have a wide selection, due to the size of the city, but buying a home here will always be a solid investment. The attractiveness of this area is only going to grow as urban sprawl continues and suburbia becomes dissatisfying for some. The San Fernando Valley puts home-owners in the center of the action while Hidden Hills makes them feel lost in the rolling mountains.
When you can work among hundreds of thousands and live among mere hundreds, you have found a relaxing balance for living well. When you can commute to work in the day and then zip around town in a golf cart in the evening you must be doing something right! This is the glory of rural living in an urban county. This is Hidden Hills CA, and the name says it all!
