About Encino, CA

Encino is just a small part of the large, growing, and exciting Los Angeles area of the San Fernando Valley. If you want to own real estate where “it” is happening, then Encino is one of your choices. Aside from an enviable postal code, Encino gives you bragging rights to being neighbors with some of the best known names in Hollywood.

Encino lies between Tarzana to the west and Sherman Oaks to the East. The Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area is to the north and the Encino Reservoir is to the south. The famous Mulholland Drive runs along the south of the city and Ventura Boulevard runs through Encino as well.

As of the census in 2000, Encino was populated by nearly 41,000 people. With a population density of 3865 per square mile, that means there’s a comfortable amount of people: it doesn’t necessarily feel over-populated, especially in the suburban areas. And the demographics are telling: 18% are under 18, 20% are over 64, which means that over 60% of the population is in the working and family-rearing stage of life. If you’re in that stage, too, you can be sure you’ll find peers for yourself and friends for your children. What’s more, who wouldn’t want to be neighbors with celebrity notable John Travolta, or live in the same city that acting greats Steve Allen, Clark Gable, and Michael Landon once lived!

If you’re a parent looking to buy a home in an area where your children will be well educated, then Encino is the right place for you. There are a number of public schools serving all levels of children, including Emelita Elementary School, Encino Elementary School, and Lanai Road Elementary School for the younger children, Mulholland Middle School and Portola Middle School for “tweens”, and Birmingham High School and Reseda High School for teenagers. For children who excel in certain areas, the Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies provides the education they crave. Sometimes, though, parents want something else for their children, and the area is served by more than half a dozen private schools – Catholic, Jewish, and other focuses, too.

Owning a home in Encino is not just about educating your children, but about helping them grow up with a quality of life that they deserve. Everyone in your family will enjoy “the great outdoors” as you explore the vast Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area.  This area, to the north of the city, has many golf courses, tennis courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, and bike paths. There is also a lake ringed with nearly 2,000 Pink Cloud Cherry Trees. The stress of the day just melts away when you spend time here!

People love the outdoors in Encino: The city hosts LA’s largest Earth Day festival. And, a giant oak tree stood for over a thousand years in this area – which died in a 1998 El Nino storm – is honored with a memorial.

How to sum up homeownership in Encino? Well, let me put it this way: it wasn’t an accident that It’s a Wonderful Life was filmed there.
